When car parts need to be replaced, the replacement parts mechanics need typically fall into 3 categories. 

1. Aftermarket parts aren’t manufactured by the original creator of the car being repaired but by a third party who has licensed the manufacturing rights. However, some manufacturers may reverse engineer their own product that can be used in place of the original and offer new benefits (like durability).

3. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts are the official, branded products designed and manufactured specifically for your car by the experts who created it. 

We’re always diligent with the parts we put into our clients’ cars. OEM parts and products are vital to ensure maximum performance, particularly in specialty vehicles. However, if your car is an older model, which you mainly use to get from A to B, then aftermarket products are often higher quality than the originals found in your car’s air conditioning system.

If you hear any strange rattling or knocking sounds when you drive your car, you should get it serviced immediately. The source of the problem could be something to do with the motor, but more likely a component has come loose within the vehicle’s cooling system. Grinding and grating sounds often signal a problem with the car’s fan.

Other signs to look out for include:

• Unpleasant odours which persist for a while after you’ve turned on your car’s air conditioning.
• Loss in cooling capacity — your A/C pumps ambient temperature despite being turned up high or low.
• Weak airflow supply.
• Sudden changes in temperatures (for example, starting cold, then climbing to a higher temperature rapidly of its own accord).
• Rattling and other noises coming from your air-con system.
• Leaks cause a loss of operating pressures.
