If you have the required tools and mechanical knowledge, you can install a radiator tank yourself. When installing a new radiator tank, you’ll need to thoroughly clean and flush the radiator core and cooling system. The coolant in the cooling system will also need to be replaced. It pays to a have a full cooling system check when replacing radiator end tanks to ensure that no other parts are damaged or contaminated.

Once the new radiator end tanks have been installed, they must be tested to ensure the integrity of the seal before the radiator is re-fitted to your vehicle.

Usually when a plastic aluminium radiator is damaged the entire unit is replaced, but sometimes just the tanks can be replaced. For radiators with soldered or bolt-on tanks, the tanks are easier to replace.
