When To Replace Your Vehicle’s Disc Brake Rotor

Brake discs (also known as brake disc rotors or disc rotors) are found in most modern and high-performance vehicles. In simple terms, cars with disc brakes get their stopping power from a slim disc or brake rotor and a small caliper that halts wheel movement. Inside the caliper are two brake pads that create friction against the rotor, slowing or stopping the wheels from turning. When pressure is applied to the brakes through the pedal, the pads clench the rotor – forcing it to stop.

While brake pads wear over time and need to be replaced regularly, disc brake rotors generally last much longer. If there is an issue with the brake disc, it usually indicates a more serious problem, such as uneven wear or warping. To avoid further damage and unsafe braking conditions, it’s good to have your brake disc performance evaluated as soon as possible. Visit a Natrad shop where we can inspect, supply and install the right disc brake rotor for your requirements. We also stock a wide range of brake parts and products. See us in store for details.
